Ramesh Raskar is a leading scientist at the MIT Media Lab, recognized internationally for his pioneering work in computational imaging, computer vision, and artificial intelligence. He is the founder of the Camera Culture research group, where he has driven innovations such as femto-photography—a trillion-frame-per-second imaging system—and other breakthrough imaging technologies.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina and has an extensive body of publications advancing the frontiers of imaging and AI. Beyond academia, Raskar co-founded the Kumbhathon Innovation Foundation, a social innovation initiative aimed at addressing large-scale societal challenges in India, including preparations for the Nashik Kumbh Mela in 2027.
A recipient of multiple honors, including the Lemelson-MIT Prize, he continues to spearhead transformative projects in health technology, computer vision, and machine learning, blending cutting-edge research with real-world impact.
