K. Rajaraman is Chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), based at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). A 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, he has spent his career in finance, taxation, telecom, and infrastructure.
He earlier served as Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications, where he helped shape reforms to attract investment and expand connectivity. Before that, he held roles such as Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes in Tamil Nadu, and Additional Secretary in India’s Ministry of Finance.
Rajaraman studied electronics and communications engineering and later earned a Master of Business Administration as well as a master’s degree in economics. His combination of technical training and policy experience helps him navigate both financial and regulatory issues.
