Amitabh Nag leads one of India’s most important language-technology initiatives. As CEO of the Digital India Bhashini Division, he is focused on making digital content and services available across Indian languages using AI.

That mission sits at the heart of India’s inclusion challenge. If AI systems work mainly in English, they reproduce many of the access barriers digital technology was meant to remove. Nag’s work involves translation, speech technology, datasets and the public infrastructure needed to make language AI useful in government and citizen services.
