Infosys Among First Firms to Complete CMMI AI Maturity Pilot

Infosys Ltd has completed a pilot assessment of the CMMI AI Maturity framework, joining an early group of companies testing a model for assessing how enterprises govern, scale and measure artificial intelligence.
The Bengaluru-based IT services company said it also contributed to the development of the framework, which is being created by the CMMI Institute to help organizations evaluate AI adoption, governance, risk management and operational readiness.
The CMMI Institute, now part of US-based ISACA, manages the Capability Maturity Model Integration framework, which is used to assess and improve organizational processes.
The pilot was conducted with the CMMI Institute and KPMG. It covered AI-augmented software development, maintenance, testing and support across Infosys’ service lines and global delivery hubs.
Infosys said the assessment examined how AI is embedded in software engineering workflows, including productivity, quality, governance and responsible AI practices.
The company said its participation helped validate elements of the framework and provided practical implementation feedback from large-scale enterprise environments.
“The CMMI AIM pilot marks a significant step in our journey to unlock the true value of AI,” Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President and Chief Delivery Officer at Infosys, said in a statement.
He said the company contributed to the framework and assessment methodology while applying its AI governance and operational practices during the pilot.
Ron Lear, Vice President of Global Strategies at the CMMI Institute, said Infosys brought experience from deploying AI in a large enterprise environment and that its participation helped validate the framework’s proposed practices.
“Their participation and successful completion of the pilot assessment offered valuable insights and confirmed the usefulness of the CMMI AIM best practices,” Lear said.
