C.V. Raman is renowned for his role in shaping the auto maker’s R&D and product innovation over nearly four decades. He spearheaded the development of the Vitara Brezza, the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle fully designed and developed in India, and led the engineering of globally successful models like the 5-door Jimny and Fronx, which have strengthened Maruti Suzuki’s international reputation.
His leadership has driven advancements in vehicle technology, safety, and the integration of advanced features, making Maruti Suzuki a leader in innovation and customer satisfaction.
He holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (1977–1982) and completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. Raman began his career in the motorcycle division as a project engineer before joining Maruti Suzuki’s R&D team in 2001, where he rose to lead engineering and product development. He also holds prominent positions in industry bodies such as ARAI, SIAM, and CII, contributing to advancing automotive technology and policy in India.
